These are the services offered at the practice
GP/ANP Appointments
We offer book on the day appointments with GP's and ANP's for the next available clinician. We also offer appointments for nominated clinicians up to a week in advance.
Home Visits
Home visits are available for housebound patient or who are too unwell to come to the surgery. Please discuss any request with the receptionist before 11am and the on-call GP will telephone to discuss this with you.
Minor Illness Clinic
Minor Illness clinics are done with the practice nurse and ANP's. If your issue is appropriate you may be offered an appointment for this. Please also see the Common Ailments scheme page where you can self refer for a range of common medical problems
Phlebotomy/HCA
We provide phlebotomy (Blood Test) and other Healthcare related services such as ECG, health advice and Blood Pressure monitoring. This is done in our Healthcare assistant clinics. Phlebotomy services are usually run every morning and we have a limited number of appointment s for the early afternoon now also
Chronic Disease Managment
Our Practice Nursing Team are responsible and run our Chronic disease clinics which include asthma/COPD reviews and Diabetic Reviews. We also have cardiovascular clinics held in the practice
Contraception
You are able to discuss and receive family planing advice at the surgery. We offer access to Pill based contraception and depo injections. You can also get access to family planning services Via the Integrated sexual health clinics in CTUHB. (See the link in self referral section for this)
Vaccines
We offer a range of Vaccines at the surgery including seasonal flu and Childhood immunisations. Amongst other vaccines are the Pneumovax and shingles vaccine. We also offer a travel Vaccine service. Please book in to a Practice nurse appointment for this or discuss your requirements with a receptionist.
Smear Clinic
The practice Nurses conduct a Cervical Smear Clinic at the surgery. You will be notified by Cervical Screening Wales via post if and when you are eligible.
Wound Care
Our nurses offer wound care services such as removal of sutures and dressing changes. These are available by prior appointment.
Baby Clinic
Baby clinic is held weekly at the surgery by the Health Visiting Team and the practice nurse team who administer vaccines when due. The Baby Medical clinic is held 2 weekly by a GP.
Anticoagulation Monitoring
We undertake monitoring and management of Anticoagulation at the practice which includes Warfarin and more recently DOACS.
Shared Care Monitoring
Certain medications that some patients may take such as Immunosuppressing agents may need monitoring. This is done on a shared care basis with the surgery and you may be asked to attend regularly for blood tests and /or reviews before you are issued your medication
Mental Health Practitioner
We have a visiting Mental Health Practitioner from the Primary Care Mental health Team once a week usually on Monday who is available to see and advise patients regarding mental health issues. This service is by appointment.
Physiotherapy
You can access a physiotherapist via reception or self refer for this service. (See Self referral section)
Sick Notes
You can self certify with an SC1/SC2 form which will cover the first 7 days of any illness. Following this you will need a Med3 Certificate A Med3 certificate can certify that you may be fit to work with certain caveats or even unfit to work depending on the circumstance. There needs to be a discussion with a GP for a first sick note or that you have been recently seen at the practice for that issue which is keeping you from work. Follow up or continuation sick notes can be requested by phone or over eConsult
Private Letters/Medicals
We offer a range of Non-NHS private work including letters, medicals and reports. As suggested this is Non-NHS work and will therefore incur a private fee. Please discuss your request with a receptionist.
